“The Way” – Many North Americans are now learning about the Camino de Santiago by the movie, “The Way”, produced and acted by Martin Sheen and Emilio Esteves. This inspirational story depicts a father’s walk on the Camino de Santiago as he spreads the ashes of his adult son, and honors his son’s desire to finish the journey. If you want to see first hand what the Camino is like, you must watch this movie. This brilliantly produced feature film reminded me of the pilgrimage and instigated my walk… beware, the Camino Gravity may pull you in too! I purchased this movie and also downloaded onto my iPhone, and watched it during my birthday, the day after I arrived in Santiago de Compostela. You can rent “The Way” or purchase “The Way” on Amazon.
Walking The Camino: Six Ways To Santiago – This independent film, produced by Lydia Smith, is a documentary that shows the true joys and hardships of walking the Camino. It is a real, honest, first-hand account of the Francés route pilgrimage. I had the privilege to meet Lydia when she premiered her film across the country. I learned that after she walked the Camino, she had to return and create a documentary and share it with others. She flew to Spain with a small film crew and found a group of six pilgrims who were willing to allow her team to film their journey. Lydia made certain to portray the real challenges one faces during the Camino. This is a great film to learn more about what you can expect on your walk. As an independent film producer myself, I am so pleased to promote Lydia’s movie and hope you will purchase or rent her film, Walking The Camino: Six Ways To Santiago from Amazon.
